West proves in this film that she could inhabit a character that was a bit removed from her persona. It's a shame that side of her wouldn't ever be successfully explored. Her evangelical scenes are splendid.
Bye bye Mae West...the gauds look cheap. The play is awfully slow.
[Mae West] has written her latest drama of sex and crime with one eye on her old loyal public and the other on the censors. It isn't likely that either group will be very enthusiastic about Klondike Annie.
Mae's usual suggestive wisecracks are diluted and seem tame by comparison to those in her other vehicles.
