Hutton affords some entertainment, but otherwise this mid-Atlantic production is best summed up by its view of the British climate as stereotypically dull and wet.
A talky, old-fashioned, plot-wise movie that's smart enough to keep audiences amused for a couple of hours.

In any case, a star seems to have been born. Certainly Lassiter is painless and periodically amusing.

Lassiter is the first feature film to be directed by Roger Young, whose idea of moviemaking seems to be to cram a bunch of cinematic cliches together and hope for the best.

Has such a numbing effect on the brain it probably should have been called "Lassitude."

Lassiter may be lightweight, but this elegant and entertaining fantasy adventure fuses to full advantage Tom Selleck's nonchalant good looks and sense of humor.
