The happy ending, on which Adela Rogers St. Johns, who adapted the tragic story by Rupert Hughes, insisted, and which should have made as laugh and sob at the same time, somehow falls flat.
A topical film which draws tears with out half trying.
It is set forth with intelligence and tact, and Dorothea Wieck's performance as the mother is extraordinarily true, fine and restrained.
There are some exciting moments and a final pursuit scene which has the audiences leaping from their seats in an effort to help.
