Movie Info

John Gilbert stars in a double role as sailor Edmund Dantes and the Count of Monte Cristo in this classic story from Alexander Dumas. Estelle Taylor plays the Countess Mercedes of Mocerf with Ralph Cloninger as her husband Count Fernand. Gaston Glass is the noble couple's son, with Robert McKim as the king's scheming attorney and William V. Mong as the innkeeper Caderousse. Slight comedy relief is provided by George Seigmann as the count's aid and former pirate.

Critic Reviews for Monte Cristo

All Critics (1)

Monte Cristo rates as the worst of all the Fox spectacles, thereby establishing a new world's record. If there has ever been anything more absurd than this grotesque interpretation of Dumas, I would gladly travel far to see it.
