Movie Info

In this film, eightyish widow Mrs. Susie Parkington gathers together all of her grown children in an effort to bail out son-in-law Edward Arnold. Critic Reviews for Mrs. Parkington

An ideal pairing of Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon. [Full review in Spanish]

Proof that the Academy has always a reserved a certain quota of its major nominations for films for which I doubt even their makers wished profoundly to be remembered.

Audience Reviews for Mrs. Parkington

Greer Garson aged herself for this film and was aged in terms of her own acting career. I don't think the performance was anything to write home about and I suspect her Oscar nomination was a give away to a loyal performer.

Stately drama that's best for fans of the Garson/Pidgeon pairings. Agnes Moorehead is a pleasure in an atypical role as a chic sophisticate. Enjoyable enough but one of those pictures that really would have benefitted from being filmed in color.
