Night Birds (1930)

Movie Info
Nacht Bummler is the German-language version of the British actioner Night Birds. With all of London held in terror by the elusive criminal known only as "Flash Jack," Scotland Yard detective Harry Cross (Hans Albers) dedicates himself to bringing the bad guy to justice. Along the way, he falls in love with Dolly (Charlotte Susa), Flash Jack's girlfriend. At one point, the plot requires Cross to pose as a musical-comedy chorus boy, a scene handled with much more comic expertise by Hans Albers than by the original Night Birds leading man Jack Raine. Both Night Birds and Nacht Bummler were released in New York City, giving American audiences the rare opportunity of seeing the same film in two different forms.
