The object of the producer of No Man Of Her Own has been, apparently, to parade Clark Gable once more in his familiar role of an irresistible lover, for the story which this picture tells falls to justify Its existence on any other grounds.
The dialogue slackens after the first half hour, but the stars have some fine comic moments together, and the intimate precode encounters are pretty sexy.
It is largely the good cast, direction and some of the comedy arising mostly out of the wisecracks that makes No Man of Her Own acceptable film fare.
Lightly brushing at least three separate genres, this good-natured yarn (from a story by Edmund Goulding and Benjamin Glazer) eschews conflict at every turn.
Gable was a fast-rising star whose swagger easily dominates here...
Eventually the picture settles down to being ordinarily "heavy," but it ends on a bright note and its first half is by all odds Gable's best work.
Audience Reviews for No Man of Her Own
Utterly ordinary comedy drama whose sole distinction is the pairing of Gable and Lombard in their only appearance together. They do well but Carole was still a few years from her breakthrough as a major star in Twentieth Century and here is just a leading lady with too blonde hair and awful makeup hiding her natural radiance. Worth one watch for the pairing but you'll forget it almost as soon as it's over.
