Movie Info

The tragic downfall of one of the great wits of the late 19th century is chronicled in this fascinating well-wrought biopic that features Robert Morely's exceptional performance as the sharp-tongued Irish playwright who though married to a woman, embarks upon an affair with a young nobleman. The young man's father, the Marquis of Queensberry, objects and publicly accuses Wilde of sodomy. Wilde in turn sues him for libel and the case goes to court with tragic results.
