Movie Info

Paddy O'Day is ideally tailored to the talents of hoydenish Jane Withers. Youthful Irish immigrant Paddy O'Day (Jane Withers) arrives at Ellis Island, only to discover that her mother has died. Not wishing to be sent back or tossed into an orphanage, she escapes the immigration officials with the help of some newfound friends. Joining a multinational group of vaudevillians, she gains success as a song-and-dance artiste, and when the authorities finally catch up with Paddy, they're so enchanted by her stage performances that they decide to let well enough alone. Crooner Pinky Tomlin is second billed as music-hall headliner Roy Ford, while the nominal romantic lead, a Russian dancer named Tamara Petrovich, is played by Rita Cansino, who not long afterward changed her screen billing to Rita Hayworth.
