Movie Info

Taylor (Justin Whalin) is a top student and choir star at his prep school in South Carolina. But his cachet soon suffers a dip when he befriends an African-American orphan, Landy (Eugene Byrd), the grandson of the school's caretaker (Moses Gunn). Despite its veneer of wholesomeness, the 1950s town hides an ugly but all-too-common secret -- racism -- and soon, the new choirmaster (Peter Scolari) must step in to help.

Critic Reviews for Perfect Harmony

All Critics (2) | Top Critics (1)

Despite the film's solid performances - careful understatement by Scolari, straightforwardness by the young men, as well as sharp work in a small role by Darren McGavin - Perfect Harmony remains just a well-crafted TV movie, no more, no less.

A quality cast, impressive settings and a particularly nice musical score are undone by the film's predictable and improbably optimistic ending.
