All Critics (3)

Karl Malden has the Lugosi mad scientist part in this film and that's not a role he can handle.

So-so reworking of the Poe story that may have worked better in 3-D.

Audience Reviews for Phantom of the Rue Morgue

Okay reworking of the Poe classic is hampered by a lack of period feeling, the sets seem like sets. Also Karl Malden is fine in the beginning but descends into full on ham by the end. Original 3-D effects are obvious while watching but have lost their impact.
