It has a few too many twists for my taste, pushing its already overdetermined plot beyond all grounded credulity, but its point about the bunkered politics of fear is well made.
Despite some nifty plot twists, the story feels loose, and lacks a sense of urgency. Maybe it worked better on paper?
The new sci-fi thriller Prisoner X has not learned the lessons of Primer, and that's a shame, because it's treading similar ground. It has a good idea, but no idea how to execute it.
