The more interesting and likable characters are overshadowed by the more annoying ones.
This lifestyle comedy deserves credit for trying to blend together gays, lesbians, and heteros (rare sight in the 1990s), but the writing, direction, and execution are below mediocre.
As brightly written by Castellaneta and enacted by possibly the best ensemble cast ever assembled in gay film, it's a real gem.
It's a film that deals intelligently and honestly with its subject matter and has the good sense not to pander or wimp out on its ending.
The film quickly falls apart amid chaotic plotting and stiff acting.
