The picture on the whole is an average program production. Miss Ferguson gives a likable performance as Carlotta, minus any great depth, but pleasing withal. The acting honors go to Conrad Nagel.

It is not a good film, but it is, at least, a daring attempt to convert into a film an incontrovertible book.

Sacred and Profane Love will, because of the star, retain the interest, but will not make a lasting impression.
The atmosphere of the film is heavy and there is little relief for your entertainment.
This play, which gives Elsie Ferguson great opportunities, serves also to bring Conrad Nagel into his own as powerful delineator of character.
Elsie Ferguson comes back to the screen rested and a little more eager than she was when she left it, but she comes back in a picture that gives her little opportunity to realize upon either her recovered energy or her talent as an actress.
