Critic Consensus: Second Act proves Jennifer Lopez remains as magnetic as ever on the big screen; unfortunately, the movie's muddled story isn't always worthy of her gifts.

It goes with a twist that's as sentimental as it is improbable.

I loved the first half of this and thought that the second half got completely insane in a way I did not appreciate.
There are lots of very obvious plot points, that you know where everything is going to play out, but you kind of go along with it because we're comfortable seeing her in this role.

Here's the quickie review: Good cast, nearly hopeless script.
As the movie of choice after a boozy brunch or as a way to decompress after holiday stress, Second Act-goofy and cliched, but not offensively either-will do fine.
Stretches the bounds of contrivance past credibility.

Audience Reviews for Second Act
I've always enjoyed J.Lo's films, but Second Act comes across as contrived, formulaic and dull, trying too hard to be a feel-good holiday film but fails miserably in delivering what's really a tired and messy story line. She should hold out for better scripts.
