While I'm an easy mark for most things involving Edwige Fenech, this one left me somewhat cold, and I think it's the oddly schizophrenic nature of the movie. While you might show up for an exploitation film about Fenech being strong-armed into a life of depravity, there's the more violent and nudity-filled side of things to keep it from being a sexploitation romp, but it's too slow and plodding at times to really be a convincingly successful drama, so I was left out in the cold a bit on this one.

An odd melodrama with gangster overtones. A nice vehicle for Fenech.

Pimps and Hoes in music just have no idea these days, what love is.

as far as secrets go, this call girl's is rather lame. Has the fatalism of a dime store novel and the slapped up charm of a petty pimp losing at playing psychomobster. I liked the sped up timeline of the story but could have done without another shot of that bastard kid running into the arms of someone. Fenech registers blank stares as depth and still has eyeliner right out of double surgery. Plus she keeps her top on for most of it all. And maybe that is the worst secret of them all.

Italian films are notorious for gaping plot holes and questionable acting, though I find them to be less obvious if viewed in the proper language. However, no amount of audio tinkering can cover up the massive chasms of plotholes this movie is loaded with. Everything moves at a rapid fire pace from scene to scene with no explanation in between at all. In that sense, this movie covers what could have been a cable series length of story in a mere 90 minutes. However, in it's own strange way, due to the speed of plot points, "Secrets Of A Call Girl" maintains itself in it's own way. The rest is carried by the universal beauty of my new dream woman - Edwige Fenech. Every film I've seen her in, she's stunning. Every interview I've seen of her from recent times - still stunning. She can make almost anything enjoyable. Without her, this movie would fail. Instead, it becomes strangely enticing.

Strange melodrama. Enjoyable but slightly dated. Edwige is stunning, of course.
