Movie Info

Filmed in English and utilizing a largely non-professional cast, this zany first-time effort from Spanish director Manuel Toledano paints a vivid portrait of life in the heroin-laden clubs of the Big Apple's gay/transvestite subculture. The story's protagonist is Dennis, a terminally ill drag queen trying to come to grips with his upcoming demise. Other characters include a pair of bubble-headed heterosexual college students who try to fit in with the crowd and only find disaster, and the punkish, drug-addicted Jonathan who has fallen in love with a gorgeous fireman. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

An uneasy mixture of moralizing and titillation.
