Movie Info

This musical offers a highly fictionalized look at the life of Rimsky-Korsakov and the woman who apparently inspired him to write his beloved Song of Scheherazade. According to this version, he is on a world cruise when he meets a sensuous dancer and falls in love. Unfortunately, their different lives keep them apart. Still, the composer has been inspired and pens his most famous tune for a ballet to be premiered at the St. Petersburg Opera House. Imagine his delight when the dancing girl appears to perform the lead. "Gypsy Song," "Navy March," "Song of India," "Arabesque," "Hymn to the Sun," "Flight of the Bumble Bee," "Capriccio Espagnole," Op. 35 ("Fandango"), "Song of Scheherazade," and "Dance of the Tumblers" (Nikolai A. Rimsky-Korsakov, some lyrics by Jack Brooks).
