Critic Consensus: With moments of stinging satire undermined by jarring tonal shifts, Teachers offers an education in the limits of a strong cast's ability to prop up uneven writing.

Critic Reviews for Teachers
It's not the comedic touch that's the problem, it's that the touch doesn't sting.
Fails to communicate its message of social concern and it winds up looking as frenzied and juvenile as every other teen exploitation flick.
Nolte is always interesting to watch. Had they not been detained with an elementary-school script, both he and the picture would have fared better.
Despite its faults, "Teachers" has moments that make it worth seeing. Just don't expect too much.
When "Teachers" works, and it works quite often, it's due to a superior collection of actors, all of whom bring a large amount of energy and talent to the proceedings.
Audience Reviews for Teachers
This is the worst portrayal of a high school I've ever seen, and none of the actors were good either, which was surprising since there are many good actors in the movie, but I really didn't like this movie.
This movie is a plethora of 80's actors including a nude Jobeth Williams and just off the Karate Kid movies Macchio minus Morgan Freeman and has the storyline to match. It is full of some pretty good acting and not a bad script. It actually shows some good acting by Nick Nolte and surprisingly the late Richard Mulligan. It probably never went anywhere because the script matches a lot of other 80's movies of the time. Not a bad soundtrack either. Pre Back to the Future Crispin Glover is a nice touch in this.
I can't believe that more people haven't seen this little gem from 1984. A decent storyline with a strong cast and good sountrack. It's funny, it's serious, and it's a little crazy. An interesting mix of comedy and drama.
