Fantastic film. I cannot recommend this one enough!

In the video of Oscar contenders listing films that made them cry, this was Robert Duvall's pick. It's a sweet film about a boy and his dog in Georgia. The title refers to dogs who only get food for themselves, who aren't hunting dogs, so when the boy fears his dog will turn into a biscuit eater he trains him to compete in a bird hunting competition. It's a bit dated regarding the African American characters, but overall it's a decent kid's movie. It's considered to be one of the first sleeper hits, it was a huge hit in 1940.
