Sounds intriguing? It certainly is, but the trouble is that Jones's abilities don't quite match his ambitions.
The best to be said for this tiresome exercise in magic realism is that it feels like a film the writer-director Cris Jones, an Australian making his first feature, may have needed to get out of his system.

The film evolves into a lean, enjoyable, thoughtful work, always with time - so to speak - to throw up an interesting idea or two.
Cris Jones' debut feature is that rare thing: a mock documentary that reaches a genuine emotional depth.
Intriguing on paper, underwhelming in execution.
The film, in keeping with Bloom's own condition, is instantly forgettable.
