Critic Reviews for The Incident
All Critics (8) | Top Critics (1) | Fresh (7) | Rotten (1)
The photography is fuzzy, the characters are gold-plated stereotypes, the plot is obvious and advances automatically. But the movie works; it delivers the goods. It creates the suspense and fear it tries for.
The sort of raw drama that, sad to say, never loses its topicality.
It's an exercise which remains as potent a time capsule as it is a mirror for the mutated behaviors and discriminations of today's vehemently troubled America which were inherited from their ignorant, complacent forefathers.
Hard to watch for all the right reasons
It has been said about the film industry in the US, that it's a business whose commercial product just happens to be movies.
Audience Reviews for The Incident
Then newcomers Tony Musante and Martin Sheen are splendid as the couple of hedonists who give an unforgettable night in NYC subway to other, so called normal, but colourful variety of people only trying to get back home. This subway car carries more than just people, all the prejudices of race, sex, and economical condition, its air is stuffed by a sudden calamity, the tension is real, is palpable, it feels like a time bomb. If it had been directed by a household name in suspense/sociological dramas like Sidney Lumet, this would be more regarded nowadays for what it really is. A bold, tight, raw study of characters, about the apathy of city people, unable or simply uncaring to give each other a hand in moments of dispair.
