Movie Info

Alan Ladd headlines this violent, action-filled western chronicle of the colorful adventures of the legendary Jim Bowie, the inventor of the famous Bowie knife. As in most such films, historical accuracy is sacrificed in exchange for an exciting, romantic tale as Bowie gambles, kills and romances his way to infamy.

The picture about Jim Bowie's young manhood has a few good individual scenes like a sword-and-dagger fight in the darkness.

Audience Reviews for The Iron Mistress

Colorful hokum that has only a nodding acquaintance with the true history of Jim Bowie. But the production values are high, the film entertaining even if it is mostly fiction and Virginia Mayo beautiful.
