Critic Reviews for The Kid Brother
The first silent film I ever saw that made me actually stand up and cheer As a first introduction to silent film, I would pick The Kid Brother over the best of Chaplin or Keaton every time.
The Kid Brother has plenty of action, but not nearly so many loud laughs as one has a right to expect from Harold Lloyd.
There are flashes of inspired comedy interspersed with a rote story until an amazing fight scene/scramble ties the film completely together at the end.
The Kid Brother demonstrates some of the best and most moving of Lloyd's acting...
Like some of Keaton's films (The General, Steamboat Bill, Jr.), The Kid Brother is just as much a proto-action flick as it is a comedy.
Audience Reviews for The Kid Brother
Although the story is predictable, this movie is hilarious and very entertaining. I really liked Lloyd and the rest of the cast, they did a great job in their roles. The slapstick comedy doesn't take center stage, it's balanced with the story and the action. And it has a great ending. I recommend seeing this movie.
