Movie Info
An old folk-song provides the inspiration for this grim western that centers on a Confederate officer who with his gang, robs a Union stage and murders two soldiers. He did this because he believed the war was still raging. When he learns it is over, he and his men flee to the south to escape. Before they go, he marries his Yankee lover. Unfortunately she gets killed and he gets a date with the hangman's noose.

Evidently the hit-parade ballad came first and the movie second; but the final results are better than the wary customer might normally expect.
