it's a real shame that marion davies' career was derailed by hearst's over the top promotion and his insistence on dramatic roles. she was a delightful and gifted comedienne and not at all like the character of susan alexander kane. no doubt she was the life of many parties. this film is a showcase for her talents and the huge influence on lucille ball's career is hard to mistake

Marion Davies' first step away from period dramas under the instruction of Mr Randolph Hearst of corse. This really shows how truly great comedian Marion Davies was.

King Vidor (the director) really utilized her facials & incredible comic timing. The story in Patsy is a little weak, but there scenes that Davies steals & you truly forget.

The film is simple but you must see the impersonations Davies does of other silent stars of the day it's brilliant. A cute little silent film that is worth a watch for any silent film followers.

Charming little film, and very fast paced for a silent film. Marion Davies is funny and cute.

Marion Davies is a conundrum of sorts. On the one hand it is hard to say if she would have had the opportunities she had to be successful without William Randolf Hearst but on the other hand his desire to see her in sentimental melodramas stifled her career. It was in comedic roles like this one where she shined, roles where she was allowed to let her playful and slightly mischievous personality take center stage. You can't help but be more then a little charmed by the joy she shows making her mother and sister think she gone crazy or fun she has impersonating other film stars of the time, which incidentally were dead on (particularly that of Lillian Gish). As much as I love Marie Dressler, this movie is all about Davies. It is a light, unpretentious, and most importantly fun bit of entertainment and there's nothing wrong with that.

i love marion davies. she got a horrible rap from the 40s onward but now, we can all look back see her incredible talent. she had fantastic comedic timing and personified the gutsy spunky female lead even before carole lombard. this might be her funniest role though show people and the red mill are pretty damned good. this is worth it purely for her impressions (the lillian gish was SPOT ON)

Funny, endearing comedy-romance with a winning performance from Marion Davies! I really enjoyed it. Marie Dressler was really good as well.

Marion Davies too often got stuck under the drama-loving thumb of WR Hearst, but in the late 20s she finally got to put her fine comedic skills to work, and the Patsy proves that her finest talents were in making people laugh.
