A portrayal we haven't often seen before, and marks a new direction for films targeted at that audience. It may even draw a new believer or two, but there's still a long way to go to totally nail the faith-based comedy genre.

The sweet story has no surprises, but the humor and the very capable and appealing cast make it fun to watch, and make it touching as well.

Like so many movies designed for believers first and ordinary sinners second, if at all, Gavin Stone has trouble approximating the sensibility of actual entertainment and is particularly deadly as a comedy.

Audience Reviews for The Resurrection of Gavin Stone

The Resurrection of Gavin Stone is not a bad film, it's just an OK film. The story isn't original and the writing could have taken a few more chances but for a 2 million dollar Blumhouse movie, the film is enjoyable enough for the whole family. Maybe not at the theaters but it wouldn't be a bad rental.

What to completely expect from a Christian film is absent in Resurrection of Gavin Stone. Unfortunately, don't take this as a sin or anything, Christian films just seem to miss the mark in aiming high and this one is no exception.
