If you're going to check out a courtroom drama, the best-case scenario is for Aaron Sorkin to write the screenplay. Having Sorkin direct is the third or fourth-best case scenario, however.

Though it doesn't quite rank as being among the most compelling of legal dramas the film nonetheless delivers a battery of punchy courtroom pyrotechnics and a cache of premium performances from an extraordinary ensemble cast.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 is a name you're going to be hearing about the deeper we go into awards season. As is often said, this isn't a perfect movie. However, the film strikes a powerful note in our contemporary climate.
