Until something more objectionable hits the fan, "Times Square" will suffice as the new movie most worth ducking.

Socially irresponsible and refreshingly optimistic: a Wizard of Oz for the '80s.

Times Square rarely comes together into anything more than a good idea that fails, but there are times when it seems on the brink of wonderful things.

As played by Tim Curry, Johnny is so insufferable he very nearly makes the rest of the movie bearable by comparison.

August 30, 2004 | Full Review…

Forgettable and unpleasant punk-rock teen rebellion film.

It isn't the most realistic story, and I'm not so sure that was the intent, but the friendship is what endures, and it's one of the reasons why people keep coming back to the film. That and the amazing soundtrack, of course.

Audience Reviews for Times Square

Had never heard of this one, caught it on TV by chance. Was quite surprised to find it's quite a popular, but not widely known cult movie. Actually, it's pretty bad - Nicky in particular, I found really grating with that voice...BUT... There is something about it. I can't rave, but I can't quite write it off, either. It has a hinted at lesbian love story at its core, and supposed mental illness. It was probably pretty out there for 1980. The New York setting is cool, but obviously dated. Actually, the whole movie is badly dated, and not terribly realistic, but I can see why people like it. For me, not so much, one off viewing. But it is interesting.
