To oneiro tou Ikarou (Icaros' Dream) (2014)

Movie Info
Greek filmmaker Costa Natsis wrote and directed this impressionistic look at one child's life in a small town. Elias (Angelos Sifonios) is a young boy growing up in Epirus, a small village in the mountains of Northern Greece. Elias is fascinated with music, and has decided he wants to learn to play the clarinet and become a musician when he becomes an adult. However, his father (Nikos Alaigas), the local priest, doesn't think much of Elias's ambitions, and his mother (Anna Mougalis) will hear nothing of it. Despite his parent's feelings, Elias frequently daydreams about the life of a traveling musician, and his imagination starts getting in the way of his school work. Elias also discovers he has a knack for attracting the more eccentric denizens of the village, and makes friends with an oddball inventor, a woman who believes she has magical powers, and many others. Ikaro's Dream received its North American premier at 2005's New Montreal Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
