The message that fracking destroys everything is a powerful one, and the film-makers should be commended for tackling it in this kind of context, but considering how little the idea is expanded upon, it feels like a wasted opportunity.

Some genuinely nightmarish images sadly cannot save Unearth from its lack of clarity and cohesion.

I do think Unearth works as well as it does because of its performances, and for those who are a bit more flexible with their definitions of horror should enjoy what Swies and Lyons have created with Unearth.
