Home invasion Canuxploitation that could have just easily been another Desperate Hours rip off but smartly plays it as a story of vengeance. 3 bank robbers on the lam kill a couple & steal their car only to find the police have sealed off a small country town causing them to take refuge in a farm house. Big mistake because Ernest Borgnine is ready for them & after blowing one away extracts his own style of justice against the other two. His granddaughter takes exception to the torture & tries to escape to go get the law. The underrated Borgnine is very good even though the dialogue is bit thin but it's Michael J Pollard who really stands out as the most psycho of the outlaws. Many don't know the name but if you watch enough older movies you're sure to know the face. Sadly he was last seen 7 years ago in House of 1000 Corpses. This legendary actor should still be acting more

Not what I thought it was going to be. He catches the guys and tortures them. Good stuff.

Borgnine acts like a man half his age who masturbates twice as frequently, giving the revenge theme near-biblical proportions.
This was primarily directed by Julio Buchs with probably marginal work by Fulci, Lucio probably worked most on a certain scene involving a bull. It is best found under the title A Bullet for Sandoval. A great film with a lackluster DVD.

John Trent's nasty vigilante drama from 1974 might not be perfect, but it's worth a look. Ernest Borgnine plays a hardheaded old farmer who takes the law into his own hands when three bank robbers shows up on his farm. "Vengeance is Mine" is a sadistic rural thriller with another memorable performance from the underrated Michael J. Pollard.
