Critic Reviews for We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story

In spite of narrative problems... the film's chief appeal is its central conceit -- that giant monsters... can be transformed into [ceatures] who like to play with children.

Parents seeking innocent kiddie entertainment should know that the dinosaurs are drugged, the children are briefly transformed into monkeys and the Professor is eventually devoured by crows.

August 30, 2004 | Rating: 2.5/5

Mercifully, this feature is only about 80 minutes long. It probably won't frighten kids, but it might bore them instead.

It's shallow and kind of dumb, and the animation is routine, and the story isn't much, and the stakes are a lot higher these days in the featurelength animation game.

We're Back is an exercise in endurance -- not only is it dull, but it has such an overwhelming sense of sweetness that it threatens to become nauseating.

It's vividly animated, it's friendly -- and it's not too long.

Audience Reviews for We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story

½

A goofy kid's film, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story is a little too juvenile for most audiences. The story follows a group of dinosaurs that are given a brain enhancing food by a time-traveler who then transports them to the 20th century to entertain children at the New York Museum, and along the way they make friends with two children who are running off to join the circus. The casting is fairly impressive, featuring the voice talents of John Goodman, Yeardley Smith, Jay Leno, Martin Short, and Walter Cronkite. However, the writing is rather poor and is extremely heavy handed. And the animation isn't very good; looking dark and grungy. It may entertain the kiddies, but We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story aims too low to be enjoyed by anyone else.

Another fun animated Dinosaur movie for kids that I liked when I was young. It's really good, it's based on a kids book if I remember correctly. And it's just a fun movie.

I've always loved how bizarre this movie is. It looks extremely different from anything you usually see, mainly due to the fact that it's about Dinosaurs with thinking minds and living in New York. It's got a nice demented plot about a circus freak trying to turn kids into zombie slaves.
