The best picture of the year thus far, and by far the funniest comedy.

What's New Pussycat? is a comedy built on so many shaky assumptions that it ought to sue for nonsupport.

It goes overboard in pressing for its goal and consequently suffers from over-contrived treatment.

Clive Donner's stylish direction harmonizes well with Woody Allen's inspired screenplay to yield an elegant entertainment, proving once again that Allen is a better scenarist than a director.

Audience Reviews for What's New, Pussycat?

A Woody Allen script that has men fretting about sex w/o commitment. Apparently a creature of the 60's, it all comes off as vain and conceited now. Peter O'Toole is the least likely gallant I can imagine short of Allen himself. The title song steals the movie, and that's about 2 minutes.

Very funny: Peter Sellers, Woody Allen and Peter O'Toole, together are really funny, but What's New Pussycat is too silly.

A very, very, very silly movie. Not a great movie, but funny in places, and very, very silly.
