It's terrible 3-D. I think the story is terrible as well.

Rock School (2005)
Director Don Argott does a superb job of capturing this unique institution and this great teacher.
Posted Jun 6, 2005
This is the film that really sticks with you after you seen it.

These kids can act, and they can ride those boards.
Posted Jun 6, 2005
This is the best Batman movie ever by far.
Posted Jun 6, 2005
A Division III imitation of the original.

Madagascar (2005)
It paints itself into a very bizarre corner because at first, they are all friends and then all of a sudden they revert to being more like real animals. How do you do that and make it funny? Well, you don't.

Empire Falls (2005)
It's better on HBO where it can play over a couple of nights and you get a chance for the story. Because if you try to compress it into a hundred-minute movie, you'd lose all the rich textures at work here.

This is an earnest and honest effort about a demographic that is deeply under-represented in today's movies.
Posted May 24, 2005
The frights, the scares, they just weren't there.
Posted May 24, 2005
This is a rousing, thrilling and inspirational biopic from a director and a star who have now collaborated on two Academy Award level films.

Unleashed (2005)
It's the same stuff that as we always get where like the henchman come up to him one by one.
Posted May 16, 2005
Mindhunters (2005)
It was supposed to open in the spring of 2003, but they kept pushing back the release date. They should have kept pushing.
Posted May 16, 2005
This really plays a like a really bad sitcom from forty years ago.
Posted May 16, 2005
I think it's the best one since The Empire Strikes Back.
Posted May 16, 2005
Brothers (2004)
This is a tight, tense and extremely well-acted film, with no easy answers and an ending that felt was just right.
Posted May 9, 2005
House of Wax (2005)
It had a great sense of humor about itself.
Posted May 9, 2005
It didn't work. There's not a movie here.
Posted May 9, 2005
Will Ferrell is one funny guy.

Crash (2004)
I think this is the kind of film that starts arguments and stimulates passionate discussion about topics that still make most of us cringe.

Madison (2005)
You've seen a movie that has the exact same scene after scene and the sport's just been different.
Posted Apr 25, 2005
Director David Anspaugh has a skilled touch, but there's just not that much drama to film. This is a very competent, very predictable sports film.

The only reason I was rooting for them to get together was that than they would both be off the market.
Posted Apr 25, 2005
You have two big movie stars reminding us of how they became movie stars. Because they're great actors.

Palindromes (2004)
I'm still sorting it all out, but if a work of art has this much of a lasting impact, I want you to see it -- if only so we can compare notes. Thumbs up for this unique, creepy, confusing, disturbing film.

House of D (2004)
It's unfortunate not so much for Duchovny as it is for the viewer, who must endure a cloying, achingly precious coming of age story.
Posted Apr 18, 2005
This is a brilliantly executed, brutally entertaining dissection of what one observer called the greatest corporate fraud in American history.
Posted Apr 18, 2005
It's all about these fathers and how crazy they are.
Posted Apr 18, 2005
This is a real triumph of storytelling and character.
Posted Apr 11, 2005
Sahara (2005)
It drove me crazy. It made National Treasure look like a documentary.
Posted Apr 11, 2005
Mondovino (2005)
Good film.
Posted Apr 11, 2005
I've never been a big fan of that over the top slapstick stuff.
Posted Apr 11, 2005
Eros (2004)
It's really interesting stuff.
Posted Apr 11, 2005
A beautiful, sprawling, wonderful story.
Posted Apr 4, 2005
Jack and Rose's ballad is a sour song punctuated by ugly behavior from characters who are supposed to be sympathetic.
Posted Apr 4, 2005
Sin City (2005)
Robert Rodriguez is one audaciously talented man.
Posted Apr 4, 2005
Fever Pitch (2005)
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen about what it means to be a diehard fan.
Posted Apr 4, 2005
Beauty Shop (2005)
I thought this was too much like the pilot for a sitcom.
Posted Apr 4, 2005
This is a gem.
Posted Mar 28, 2005
This, to me, is a classic example of a sequel that was just made because the first one made money. I didn't even like the first one.
Posted Mar 28, 2005
Guess Who (2005)
I say sometimes that scripts get rewritten too much. I don't know if this one got rewritten too much or not enough, but I wish they had given it another go and tried to strike a more consistent tone.

D.E.B.S. (2004)
Is it a satire of stupid movies? Is it just a stupid movie?
Posted Mar 28, 2005
The Ring Two (2005)
I thought the original had a nice evil chill to it, but this is an unnecessary second chapter that dumbs down all the main characters and is curiously lacking in quality scares.
Posted Mar 21, 2005
Steamboy (2005)
Like cinematic Pop Rocks: it's eye candy filled with explosion after explosion after explosion.
Posted Mar 21, 2005
I think this Woody Allen's best film in maybe fifteen years.
Posted Mar 21, 2005
Ice Princess (2005)
There are far too many cringe-inducing clichés and gaping plot holes.
Posted Mar 21, 2005
Dot the I (2003)
Gael Garcia Bernal I think is really becoming a major force as a leading man. He's very good.
Posted Mar 21, 2005
In a remarkable performance, perhaps the most impressive portrait of Hitler ever captured on film, Bruno Ganz plays Hitler as delusional, hateful and cruel man -- but also human.
Posted Mar 14, 2005
Off the Map (2003)
I think Campbell Scott's a talented filmmaker, very good cast, but the story up and down and up and down and all around.
