The Founder (2017)
Exceptionally well-acted, with a powerhouse performance from Keaton.

Devil's Knot (2014)
Manages to turn a thoroughly gripping true story into an absolutely pedestrian, very dull film.

A tepid end to a tepid saga. The CGI is bad enough that you'd think this came from the mid-nineties.

Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011)
The finest film of the 2011 Sundance film fest. One of the few films I've seen in a while that truly filled me with dread.

More like a good TV movie than a full-on film, but still a good adaptation of the novel. Rapace is excellent.

Not bad bad as the poster makes it out to be, but not good either.

The film PUBLIC ENEMIES should have been. An incredible gangster epic packed with balls-to-the-wall action!

Cheap-looking, witless and amateurish to the extreme.

Porky's II: The Next Day (1983)
Let's just say the first hour of the original film has more chuckles than both sequels put together.

Flags of Our Fathers (2006)
A pretty darn good, but not completely great, war movie that pays overdue homage to the WWII veterans who never made it home.

Alone with Her (2007)
A novel spin on an oft-told tale, Alone with Her is a fine little indie indeed. What could have been just another gimmick flick turns out to be a pretty intense ride.

Fans of the Hellboy property, particularly younger ones, should find enough to enjoy here.

Reiner keeps everything moving while letting Harmon do the heavy lifting as his young co-stars sprinkle the chuckles around.

Just a simple little "people drama," nothing more, but a very well-crafted and heartfelt one all the same.

Black Christmas (2006)
The fans will dig the brief-yet-nasty FX work, but they'll have to slog through a pretty tiresome movie just to get their hands on those nuggets.

Once the characters start spewing out reams of dialogue about "geostigma," "sephiroth," and "genova," my eyeballs involuntarily start to glaze over.

Man About Town (2006)
Binder's made some really fine movies and some curiously weak ones; my opinion is that this one falls firmly in the latter group.

Loving Annabelle (2006)
If you're looking for a bare-bones story about girl-on-woman love that goes precisely where you're expecting it to go, you could do worse.

All things considered, these sets seem to be the best Bond releases yet.

One of the most realistically romantic movies I've seen in a while. And I'm not easily impressed by what generally passes for "movie romance."

Mozart and the Whale (2005)
Shapeless and redundant, this flick is exactly the sort of movie you'd envision if I said "mildly retarded yet physically gorgeous young romance."

World Trade Center (2006)
It's plainly evident that all of the filmmakers approached the subject matter with appropriate honor and respect. (In other words, this movie is no Pearl Harbor.)

The Transformers - The Movie (1986)
It's good mindless fun, and a flick that no doubt holds a lot of Nostalgia Value for several members of my generation's sci-fi geeks.

The Dark Crystal (1982)
Points to the Henson team for trying to broaden the scope of their creatures -- and there's little denying that this particular flick still seems to hold up pretty darn well.

While N&D certainly does have its rough spots, I'm thinking it's just good enough to warrant the three-disc Netflix rental, provided you're a big fan of Stephen King.

The Fox and the Hound (1981)
Disney may have gone off the rails for a few years after The Fox and the Hound, but this one still feels like a classic. Or at very least, a mini-classic.

The Lost City (2005)
