Series Info

A cheerleader is chosen to battle the forces of evil as she weathers the storms of young adulthood in an imaginative series that blends killer writing and performances. The show put WB on the ratings map and spawned the successful `Angel' before moving to UPN in 2001. Series creator Joss Whedon introduced the character in a 1992 film that had Kristy Swanson in the Slayer role.

Critics Consensus: Seldom subtle, always subversive, Buffy ends the way it began: a funny, weird show that packs a punch -- and a whole lot of feeling.

2002, WB, 22 episodes

Critics Consensus: Buffy gets an A for effort, but a bleaker tone and some jarring plot twists make this penultimate season a series low.

2001, WB, 22 episodes

Critics Consensus: Brilliant, risky and beautiful, Buffy reaches past the missteps of season four to deliver a fresh, unpredictable season that ends with a bang.

2000, WB, 22 episodes

Critics Consensus: Buffy enters its fourth season on shaky ground -- but finishes with a surprisingly satisfying season finale.

1999, WB, 22 episodes

Critics Consensus: Season three perfects the show's winning formula to create an addictive and satisfying viewing experience, episode after episode.

1998, WB, 22 episodes

Critics Consensus: Buffy finds its footing in season two, crafting a season that balances supernatural hauntings and high school happenings with ease.

1997, WB, 22 episodes

Critics Consensus: Buffy slays her way into the pop-culture lexicon in a debut season that lays the groundwork for one of TV's greatest supernatural teen dramas.
