Critic Reviews for Emmys: 55th Emmys

Great comic bits and memorable one-liners and zingers were in short supply, even as the number of comics serving as host swelled to nearly a dozen. Memo to Emmy: Give us a single host next year!

The Emmy telecast itself was a disjointed affair, with a series of comedians rather than a single host guiding the ceremony.

Yawn-inducing crap, including a parade of writers and producers who remind us of our schoolteachers. Not exactly what we tuned in to see.
Except for Conan O'Brien's intentionally loud dance number tuxedo and Wanda Sykes pointlessly wandering around the audience, Sunday's Emmy Awards on Fox were relatively mistake-free and unusually predictable.
Conan O'Brien, Wanda Sykes, Ellen DeGeneres, Garry Shandling, Bernie Mac, Darrell Hammond, George Lopez, Miller, Garrett, Short and Stewart all tried for laughs, but generally failed to get more than a few groans.
However, lively moments such as those were the exception as providing a showcase for the medley of comics was largely responsible for slowing the first two hours of the telecast to a glacial pace.
