Critic Reviews for Emmys: 58th Emmys
All Critics (14) | Top Critics (10) | Fresh (12) | Rotten (2)
The Emmys were not so much put on as dispensed with. The presenters bolted through their patter, and the producers forced the winners through their acceptance speeches with rude haste.

Noting it was his second time as host, O'Brien said, "As you'll see, the third time is the charm." He proved the second time can be a charm.

The best talent won out -- and viewers were presented with a witty telecast.
O'Brien was an amiable, sometimes hilarious, host.
With so few early surprises, it was fortunate that host Conan O'Brien provided so much originality. Admittedly, some of his performance was in questionable taste.
O'Brien showed both his skill as a comedian and a host and a sincere fan of TV who knew his audience, both in the Shrine Auditorium and watching at home... The awards themselves were sometimes a disappointment, but the host was a standout.
