Power, passion and money drive this long-running serialized saga set in California's wine region. The main drama centers on the Machiavellian efforts of ironfisted matriarch Angela Channing to retain control of the family-run empire. As the show faded during its later years, the stories shifted (none too convincingly) to crime and a shadowy underworld group called `The Thirteen.' A number of movie divas had short stints on the series, including Lana Turner, Kim Novak and Gina Lollobrigida.
