Critic Reviews for Frank Herbert's 'Dune': Miniseries

Maybe there are some books that just can't be adequately transferred to the screen. And maybe "Dune" is one of them.
The sets and costumes are sumptuous, the special effects impressive, and the actors give dignity to their faux-Shakespearean line readings.
It has a sustained mood, it conveys some of the spirit of its source material, and it is entertaining, especially the last episode.
Not the definitive telling of Dune, but not bad either.
I must say it's great fun.

Sci Fi has simply bitten off more than it can chew, taking on a project of this scope... All are helpless without the coin to make this miniseries what it should be.
