Critic Reviews for Grapevine: Season 1
All Critics (8) | Top Critics (6) | Fresh (6) | Rotten (2)
Grapevine, a comedy of bad manners and some of the worst writing to hit the screen since the last Danielle Steele miniseries.

An innovative, if overly yuppified, series...
With its ostensibly naughty, self-conscious tone, Grapevine is like watching a Victoria's Secret catalog come to life. It's frisky and flippant, yes, but also plastic and glib. The show's six-week run should be just about enough.
The cheery cast beams through the gossiping and the sophomoric humor, but [Liz] Vassey and [Dean] Cain act as though they'd be much more at home in Our Town. As for the three principals, they need better material.

Grapevine has enough distinctive fizz to become the perfect summer cooler.

Grapevine may be the most boldly, ribaldly, envelope-pushingly sexual series ever put on prime time by one of the three major networks.
