Over the years, Timothy West and Prunella Scales have taken us on glorious canal and river journeys across Britain and around the world. This special programme looks back at their adventures in a part of the world they hold closest to their hearts. ÂThe canals of Wales and the West Country, coursing through green hills and lush valleys, are where the story of Tim and Pru has unfolded over 80 years. These idyllic waterways have woven through their childhoods, marriage and family life, and remain their favourite place of escape. On the Avon, they travel on the fireboat that put out the wartime fires in Tim's hometown of Bristol, and head out into the Bristol Channel by steam paddler to visit the seaside village where Pru was evacuated. They relive their honeymoon on the Llangollen canal, travelling Britain's longest aqueduct, and on the Mon and Brec they immerse themselves in the beauty and poetry of the Welsh waterways, as they glide through its spectacular scenery.
