Tv Season Info

As the third season of the law-enforcement mockumentary opens, the officers are ending their 12-month prison sentence for corruption and reflecting on their incarceration: Lt. Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon) practiced German, Dep. Clementine Johnson (Wendi McLendon-Covey) cried, Dep. Trudy Wiegel (Kerri Kenney-Silver) had night terrors and Dep. Travis Junior (Robert Ben Garant) smuggled contraband into his cell. Upon their release, the ex-cops have to adjust to civilian life and deal with threats from corrupt DA Mike Powers (Mather Zickel). Later episodes reveal that, while they've paid their debt to society, they still aren't prepared to serve and protect. Among the evidence: a disease scare quarantines half the department; the deputies have a hard time catching the "fastest criminal in the Southwestern states"; Dep. S. Jones (Cedric Yarbrough) considers quitting for a voice-over job; and Trudy's boyfriend is scheduled to be executed for murder---just as he finally proposes.

Though the third season fell victim to an incredibly mediocre premiere, it quickly rebounded to deliver an excellent junior effort complete with hilarious cast performances and more than a few classic episodes.

On screen, Reno's finest are freed. Behind the scenes, however, lurks a more insidious threat: the Reno 911! creators' increasing exhaustion and boredom.

Reno 911! starts off sluggish, but if the July 5 episode is indicative of what's to come, the series should continue to be good for some summer laughs.

Nothing is too preposterous or offensive for the creators of Reno 911, and as a result watching the series quickly becomes akin to being glued to the latest manipulative FOX reality fare-except, you know, funnier.
