This Southern-fried Melrose Place is enough to make you spit.

"Savannah" is lush, lusty and lively. We're not talking brain food here, but it does look like rather tasty junk food.

It's all pure Spelling -- shallow though produced to a satin finish; badly acted by an attractive cast; poorly written but craftily plotted.

The fact is, though, painful as it may be to admit it, "Savannah" is kind of fun -- maybe not so bad it's good, but so hokey it's enjoyable and sometimes funny.

This is unadulterated trash, done to a stunningly sizzling turn.

The Georgia backgrounds are lush, the young ladies are good-looking, the gents handsome. Camerawork and editing, as is usual in Spelling productions, are superior, and the storyline's wonderfully easy to follow.
