Supergirl: Season 2 (2016-2017)

Critic Consensus: The arrival of the more famous cousin in Supergirl does nothing to detract from the show's lead, who continues to deliver strength, action, and relatability.

Tv Season Info

Season 2 finds Supergirl, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), teaming up with her cousin Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). Kara and James (Mehcad Brooks) decide they're better off as friends, leaving the path for Mon-El (Chris Wood), the mystery alien from the pod that fell in Season 1, open to make a move on the Girl of Steel. Elsewhere, with the help of Maggie (Floriana Lima), Alex (Chyler Lee) accepts her sexuality; at the same time, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) rethinks her family loyalties. Episode 8 begins a crossover event with the CW sister shows "The Flash", "Arrow" and "DC's Legend's of Tomorrow," in which Supergirl is featured prominently.

Critic Reviews for Supergirl: Season 2

All Critics (20)

A mixed bag, but most of the returning and new characters are good and/or get some good development. The overall storylines are fun to follow and the finale delivers, mostly.

Supergirl improved in many ways in Season 2, but the show hit plenty of bumps in the road this year.

Between Benoist and Flockhart's performances and Kreisberg and Jessica Queller's script, its believability leaves much to be desired, but its focus never falters

Season 2 built strongly upon the firm foundations of season 1 and delivered a fantastic second season that has set a new standard of excellence for DC shows.

While the season finale is a high point of the series, it also exemplifies a lot of the problems that arose during Season 2.

We don't find out much of any info about dude this episode but you can bet your bottom Brainiac that this is one of the first times that Supergirl blatantly yet smoothly set up a storyline for deeper into the season.

Somehow ended up better than The Flash in the 2016/2017 run.
