Critic Consensus: It taps into some fairly regular plot points, but when it dares to defy expectations and focus on its charming young cast, The Irregulars hints at something truly special lingering beneath the surface.

News & Interviews for The Irregulars: Season 1
There are a sprinkling of more casual sequences that cut through the darkness. An encroaching threat does a lot to crowd those out by season's end.
There's enough talent here to suggest that it could develop into something more interesting in the future, but the real mystery here is how so many interesting individual elements can struggle to form an entertaining whole piece.
"The Irregulars" is fairly regular. Which isn't to say it's bad, just expected.
For those who are aware of what they are getting themselves into, I highly recommend the Irregulars.
If you're a fan of broken children finding home in each other then you'll love this ragtag group of gritty good kids who could easily carry a few more seasons at least.
