Critic Consensus: Though it's not always as clever as it fancies itself, The Pursuit of Love's spot-on casting and stylish proceedings prove a delicious enough diversion.

Mortimer's insistence that Linda is more relatable than she seems is easier to take when it comes with so much spectacle. There hasn't been a more vibrantly visual show on television this year.
The Pursuit of Love isn't trying to break our hearts or appeal to our compassion; it's amusing, charming, and focused, like so many classics, on a sense of the corners in which society forces women.

Though people say things like "I can't imagine the world without Linda!" and James labours visibly to convey irrepressible charisma, the viewer gathers little evidence of Linda being anything other than an obnoxious flibbertigibbet.

Despite its straightforward plotting and the obvious contrast in cousins, Mortimer lets "The Pursuit of Love" play messy, since that's how life itself plays.
The miniseries' breezy pace, likable ensemble, and low-key twee style make The Pursuit of Love easy to fall into, even with the sense that its satire could have been spikier.
Mortimer manages to... pay tribute to the novelist who lives in Linda's character and in that of so many women who pursued freedom. [Full review in Spanish]
