Beyond the terrible title that hinders the series, it's impossible to look at this effort and not wish it was a much rougher, unvarnished look at Carson and what it must have been like working on The Tonight Show in the early 1970s
Using the real Carson clips is a fun innovation, and keeping it so heart-warming is a nice callback to times when that's what TV shows were, instead of being dark and dreary - even, and maybe especially, for the comedies of today.
