True Blood: Season 2 (2009)

Critic Consensus: True Blood's second season is still mostly content with delivering pulpy escapism. but it's well acted, addictive, and packs a stronger and more focused punch than the first.

Critic Reviews for True Blood: Season 2

All Critics (18) | Top Critics (14)

Silly, gross, soapy, mysterious, intriguing, exotic, erotic True Blood is fun. Even more fun this season.

As good as Paquin and company play it, this is another quality pay-cable show that does have a secret handshake. Or bite.

"True Blood" is truly terrific.

Search me, but True Blood brings style, brio and some fiendish frissons to the old blood-sucker clichés.

The Season Two premiere, though, and previews of the season to come provide hope that Ball has found his stride and that, hopefully, it can stand on its own and not as part of the latest vampire cultural craze.

True Blood will never be confused with the high-quality projects HBO has staked its reputation and brand on, but it can be an entertaining pop/pulp thriller with a fair amount of comedy sprinkled in.

Season two took place mainly in the vicinity of a vampire hate group called the fellowship of the sun, Sookie and Bill are tasked to find a kidnapped vampire. At the same time, Bon Temps is threatened by a mysterious woman who made the folks become sex crazed. Season Two expanded the series by establishing some comedic elements and characters. Overall much stronger than first season and was able to have a better focus on the plot.
